2003, Flowers Direct received the award for E-Business Start-up and,
in 2004, collected the coveted award for excellence in E-Trading,
beating off stiff competition from other well known and well respected
businesses. Flowers Direct pride themselves on their initiative use
of technology in the still very traditional flower business. The recognition
on two DTI backed e-business awards is testament to the high standards
and quality of our online strategy.
The national E-Commerce Awards
are run by the Department of Trade and Industry and InterForum, and
are sponsored by BT and The Sunday Times. The awards have been designed
to recognise and reward those organisations that have demonstrated
excellence through the use of the Internet and other Information &
Communications Technologies.
These awards recognise best practice in the development of information
and communication technologies (ICT) by UK business and public sector
communities. They are designed to exemplify the true applied technology
innovators in the marketplace today.

On winning both
the 2004 and 2005 E-Commerce awards, Relay Director Ian Rawlins said,
“Winning the awards has been the accumulation of over three

Flowers Direct have applied the very latest web technology to every
aspect of what we do, to ensure that provide a first class service
to our customers. Our online technologies also extend to our network
of local florists, who are able share in the use of our web order
and customer service intranet system.
The use of web technologies has allowed our customer orders to be
quickly processed and allocated to our broadband-enabled members with
the minimum of fuss and within minutes of orders being received. Our
same day flower service allows flower orders to be placed online and
delivered the same as they are ordered.
These two awards perfectly reflect the aspects of the company of which
we are most proud. |
