Lilies

Lilies have been grown for over 3,000 years. Then as now, lilies have had huge symbolism For the Chinese, lilies mean ‘forever in love’, for the ancient Greeks they represented ‘tenderness’, while in Feng Shui they embody summer and abundance. For Christians, lilies epitomise the purity of love and are often associated with Christ and the Virgin Mary, especially at Easter. Of course, you might just like them because they look fabulous – and why not.

The peaceful elegance of white lilies conveys spirituality, so they are also suitable as a sympathy or funeral flower and tribute.

Two things to remember about lilies… 1 Take extra care when handling them as lily pollen can stain clothes and furnishings. If you get any pollen on clothes or fabrics, avoid trying to brush it or wash it off as this may well engrain the stain and make it worse. Instead, try using sticky tape to take off the pollen. 2 Please check that your recipient does not have cats as lily pollen is very poisonous to them.
